BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - Two men are in custody after a North Dakota Highway Patrol officer discovered $2.5 million worth of heroin during a traffic stop.
Frank Villa and Charles Ahumada, both from Arizona, have been charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to manufacture or deliver. Villa has also been charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Authorities say a trooper pulled over a car with Nevada license plates Monday on Interstate 94. A K9 unit was used to search the car and the deputy located 4.5 pounds of heroin that had been wrapped in three separate bricks. Authorities say the street value of the drug is $2.5 million.
Drug paraphernalia and meth were also found in the vehicle.
