FERGUS FALLS, MN (KFGO-AM) -- A judge has sentenced Michael Alan Burris to 12 ½ years in prison for the death of his nephew in 2012.
Burris accepted a deal in October and pleaded guilty to second-degree unintentional murder for the death of his nephew Scott Burris over a drug debt.
His body was found in the Otter Tail River southwest of Fergus Falls.
Burris' son, Michael Kyle Burris, was given a three year suspended sentence and probation in October for helping his father move the body.
