JAMESTOWN (KFGO-AM) A preliminary autopsy indicates a rural Stutsman County man found dead outside his home Tuesday morning died of hypothermia. He's identified as Alvin Peterson, 75, of Ypsilanti.
Deputies found his unoccupied SUV about a mile from his home. It was disabled from a hit and run accident the night before. When they went to Peterson's home, his body was discovered in the front yard.
Sheriff Chad Kaiser says it appears Peterson walked home. temperatures at the time were below freezing and there was a bitter windchill.
