HAWLEY, MINN. (KFGO-AM) The Clay County Sheriff's Office is looking for the driver who abandoned a pickup hung up on the tracks at a rail crossing a mile south of Hawley Tuesday morning. Deputy Kyle Diekmann says the empty vehicle was then struck by a BNSF train.
Concerns that the driver may have wandered off, deputies, Hawley police and a Sanford AirMed chopper did an extensive search of the area but didn't find anyone. There was no sign anyone was injured in the accident. The sheriff's office is asking anyone with information to contact them.
