Fargo, N.D. (AP) North Dakota farmers produced an estimated 8.8 million hundredweight of dry edible beans this year, up 24 percent from last year.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture says the 630,000 planted acres in the state were up 43 percent from 2013. The 615,000 harvested acres also were up 43 percent.
The statewide yield is estimated at 1,430 pounds per acre, down 220 pounds from a year ago.
