FARGO (KFGO-AM) Fargo leaders set out priorities for the upcoming legislative session in a meeting with area lawmakers Friday.
City planners say in the past two years, Fargo has been growing at a rate of 10 people per day and housing, services, and infrastructure has not kept up with the hyper-growth. Acting mayor Tim Mahoney says Fargo has become an urban center with a lot of different needs and he says the city needs the state to help respond to those issues.
House Majority Leader Al Carlson made no promises about additional funding but he also admits he's surprised by Fargo's growth. He says the state's tax incentive plan is the best way to address the housing shortage.
City Commissioner Melissa Sobolik says there now are 1400 people on waiting lists for affordable housing vouchers in Fargo.
