Grand Forks, N.D. (AP) A federal fugitive who was indicted in 2009 in North Dakota on child pornography charges has been arrested.
Officials with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement say 51-year-old Adney Allen has made his first court appearance following his arrest on the Red Lake Indian Reservation near Redby, Minnesota. Federal authorities are partially crediting the arrest to a smartphone app they created.
Authorities say the tipster who notified police about Allen learned of the suspect's fugitive status through the media coverage of the October launch of the agency's operation predator app. Allen was among the app's featured fugitives.
A grand jury in Fargo indicted Allen for possessing, distributing and receiving child pornography. He left the area before the grand jury returned the indictment against him.
It's unclear whether Allen has legal representation.
