DETROIT LAKES, MN (KFGO-AM) -- A judge has sentenced a Detroit Lakes man to more than 38 years in prison for killing a woman with a crossbow in a downtown Detroit Lakes apartment.
58 year-old David Stensrud pleaded guilty in the death of Geraldine Kading in April of 2013. More than a dozen members of Kading's family were in the courtroom when Stensrud was sentenced. Five of them spoke to the judge.
Stensrud shot Kading twice with the crossbow before he shot himself with an arrow. He previously testified that he couldn't handle their break-up and wanted to be with her in heaven.
