FARGO (KFGO-AM) Fargo police identified the man whose body was found Thursday afternoon as 48-year old Randy Lafontaine.
Lt. Joel Vettel says Lafontaine was homeless but had been staying at the Gladys Ray Shelter and had been seen there as recently as two weeks ago. Lafontaine also had contact with law enforcement officers in the area last month. The shelter is only several blocks from where Lafontaine's body was found beneath a truck in the 1900 block of 2nd Avenue south. Investigators are still working to establish a timeline for the death. Vettel says there's nothing to indicate that a crime was involved.
Lafontaine is believed to have frozen to death although autopsy results have not yet confirmed that. Vettel says it may take some time to get results back.
