FISHER, MINNESOTA (KFGO-AM) -- A 46-year old Grand Forks man is behind bars after holding law enforcement at bay for more than two hours in Fisher, Minnesota Thursday.
According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Steven Gonzales tried to pass a bogus check at a Crookston grocery store shortly before four p.m. When officers arrived on the scene the suspect fled in a vehicle to a farm field. Gonzales ditched the car and ran into a nearby home. A woman and her son inside managed to escape unharmed.
Gonzales barricaded himself in the basement and refused to surrender. Officers used non-lethal chemical agents in an tempt to flush Gonzales out. Law enforcement eventually made entry and he was placed in custody. He faces numerous felony warrants.
