ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Democratic Governor Mark Dayton and Republican challenger Jeff Johnson have ended their series of debates much like they began: With the incumbent hailing big-picture successes and his rival saying too many things went awry over the past four years.
Friday's fast-paced debate on public television made for a recap to the race that ends with Tuesday's election.
Johnson brought up shortcomings in Vikings stadium legislation and the health insurance exchange known as MiNsure to raise doubts about Dayton. The governor says his opponent has failed to back up his criticism with detailed alternatives and was sounding like a "desperate candidate'' who was clearly behind.
Dayton is bidding for a second term. Johnson is a Hennepin County commissioner and former state lawmaker.
