Fargo, N.D. (AP) North Dakota state senior Adam Keller will end his college football career with a handful of records despite spending the first three years in pain from numerous injuries related to a bad hip.
Keller gambled with his senior season by having surgery in January after NDSU's third straight national title, and it paid off. He has kicked 17 field goals this season and needs just two more to break his own school record.
The native of Lewisberry, Pennsylvania, says the ongoing problems with his hip led to other leg injuries, and he hasn't felt 100 percent until this year.
Keller is third among active Football Championship Subdivision kickers with 44 career field goals. The opposing kicker this week, South Dakota State's Justin Syrovatka, is second with 46 field goals.
