Vermillion, S.D. (AP) Carson Wentz passed for three touchdowns and 231 yards to lead North Dakota state over South Dakota 47-7 on Saturday. The Bison (8-0, 4-0, Missouri Valley Conference) held South Dakota (2-6, 0-4) to 238 total yards and 2 for 12 on third down conversions. The Coyotes made three turnovers.
The Bison settled for a pair of short Adam Keller field goals before getting rolling. After the second kick, Esley Thorton forced Jordan Roberts to fumble, giving bison a short field. Three plays later, John Crockett rumbled in from 10 yards and the rout was on.
Wentz hit Luke Albers from 10 yards after a 9-play, 72 yard drive and Keller added a 49-yard field goal to give the Bison a 23-7 lead at intermission.
Wentz tossed scoring strikes to RJ Urzendowski and Crockett in the third and Chase Morlock added a fourth quarter 23-yard TD run.
