FARGO (KFGO-AM) -- Brian Berg, Chairman of a committee reviewing discipline and morale in the Fargo Police Department, says he's surprised by the number of officers who responded to an open invitation to discuss their concerns. Despite short notice, Berg says between 25 and 30 people met with committee members this week. That included several key players from outside the department. Berg won't comment on what they were told during the face to face discussions.
The information will be examined by the full committee at its meeting next Thursday. Berg says the feedback will give the panel direction as it works to resolve problems within the department. Their goal is to finish the work in 3 to 6 months.
City leaders called for the outside review because of criticism of Police Chief Keith Ternes and the suicide of Lt. Jeff Skuza earlier this year. Ternes has acknowledged some employees have complaints and he hopes whatever issues there are will be resolved by the investigation.
