FARGO (KFGO-AM) Fargo's Deputy Mayor says there may be a lesson learned from the problems encountered by road construction project delays this year.

Some 70% of road projects had to be given extensions this year. The reasons varied from unexpected problems, weather, and shortages of both material and workers.

Tim Mahoney says the city is going to re-examine some of those on the drawing board for next year in the event supply and manpower shortages continue. He says work on 13th Avenue South scheduled for next year may have to be delayed again. He says the city needs to look at the number of projects it does annually because the city may be overbidding the number of projects that contractors are actually able to do.

An estimated $10 million reconstruction of nearly a mile of 13th Avenue in the West Acres area was supposed to have been done

this summer but was postponed because of other major road projects, including 19th Avenue orth and 25th Street South.
