FARGO (KFGO-AM) - Former Fargo Police Chief Chris Magnus has been chosen by the U.S. Justice Dept. to help investigate police procedures in Ferguson, MO.

Magnus is one of just two law enforcement experts serving on a special seven-person panel. Magnus is reviewing law enforcement supervision, training, protocols and procedures in Ferguson, where the fatal police shooting of an unarmed 18 year-old sparked riots and a civil rights investigation.

The panel was assembled by the Justice Dept. to help Ferguson police avoid future deadly force incidents.

Magnus is currently Chief of Police in Richmond, CA.  He was police chief in Fargo from August, 1999 until January, 2006.
