Grand Forks, N.D. (AP) The Grand Forks County Sheriff's Department is warning residents about a phone scam.
Authorities say they at least one county resident received a call from someone identifying himself as "Deputy Bob Allen.'' The caller said the resident had two outstanding warrants for failing to show up for jury duty, and the individual was told to purchase a credit card pack. The resident was asked to call back with the credit card numbers to clear the warrants.
Sheriff's department officials say law enforcement does not accept money of any kind and only a judge can clear a warrant.
