Bismarck, N.D. (AP) The gap in substance abuse services in the Bismarck area will be closed when a 16-bed clinic opens in 2016.
The Heartview Foundation plans to open a facility near Cando that will serve patients with substance abuse and co-occurring mental and physical disorders.
Kurt Snyder is the group's executive director. Snyder says the state's growing population and the rise in drug overdose fatalities nationwide have increased the demand for substance abuse services.
Snyder said the previous operator of the facility shot down the clinic following a reduction in benefits for low-intensity residential treatment.
Patients receiving medicaid benefits will be eligible to seek treatment at the clinic.
