Mandan, N.D. (AP) A Mandan man has been charged with killing his neighbor and setting his own mobile home on fire.
49-year-old Rodney Harold Friesz was charged in Friday with Class AA felony murder and class b felony arson. Judge Bruce Romanick set bond at $250,000.
Police say Friesz told them he shot the victim once through the head with a .22-caliber rifle after the two of them argued. Friesz allegedly poured gasoline on the floor and used a torch lighter to set the home on fire. Police say the victim was still breathing when Friesz started the fire.
The victim has not been identified.
Friesz repeatedly told Romanick that he was acting in self-defense, after the judge had cautioned him against discussing the case.
