BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - The attorney for a Fargo judge accused of sexual harassment says his client has suffered enough and should not be suspended.
Fargo attorney Ronald McLean told the state Supreme Court Friday that East Central District Judge Wickham Corwin should be admonished if the justices find any violations. A disciplinary panel has recommended a two-month suspension.
Corwin is accused of trying to start an affair with his former court reporter and retaliating when she rejected his advances.
McLean told the court that Corwin made a mistake but attempted to maintain a "professional cordial relationship'' after that.
Disciplinary board lawyer Brent Edison said if Corwin had intended to make amends, he would not have told the reporter he would have taken care of the problem had he been in private practice.
