A group is sponsoring an event to talk about helping species in North Dakota that might be threatened or endangered.
The daylong symposium Thursday at the Mandan seven seas is sponsored by the State Chapter of The Society for Rangeland Management.
The event is aimed at helping range and prairie land managers and others improve conditions for species such as at the Dakota Skipper Butterfly, the long-eared bat, Sprague's pipit birds and greater sage grouse.
Natural Resources Conservation Service State Biologist Curt Bradbury says preventing range and prairie land from being converted to crops or commercial development is key to maintaining habitat.
Steve Krenz with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will speak at the symposium on aquatic species such as the endangered pallid sturgeon.
