Bismarck, N.D. (AP) About 40 North Dakota Army National Guard soldiers will return to the U.S. Monday after a yearlong deployment in Kosovo.

The soldiers are members of the guard's Company C, 2nd Battalion, 285th Aviation Regiment that is based in Bismarck. The soldiers will arrive at Fort Hood, Texas, where they will spend up to two weeks before returning to North Dakota.

The guard says the soldiers supported an international peacekeeping mission. The unit operated black hawk helicopters as part of a task force that conducts military peace support operations in Kosovo.

The North Dakota aviators also provided air transport for U.S. and NATO forces, including training and assistance to the Kosovo security forces.
