Sports programs for disabled veterans in North Dakota are getting $70,000 in federal funds.
U.S. Sen. Heidi Heitkamp says the funds authorized by the department of veteran affairs will go toward developing and managing skiing, snowshoeing, tubing, hiking and fishing programs for disabled veterans at Bottineau Winter Park.
Heitkamp says that beyond providing veterans with education and care, it is important to give them the opportunity to enjoy life to the fullest.
Bottineau Winter Park is a ski resort in North Dakota's Turtle Mountains near the Canadian border.
