Some American Indian tribes and tribal colleges in North Dakota are getting more than $3 million in federal money to improve safety on reservations and at tribal campuses.

The state's congressional delegation says Cankdeska Cikana Community College in Fort Totten is getting nearly $1.7 million to support tribal members pursuing health professions. The Turtle Lake Community College is getting nearly $1.2 million for the same purpose.

The Standing Rock Sioux tribe is getting $300,000 to support foster care and adoption programs on the reservation that straddles the North Dakota and South Dakota border.

The money comes from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
