FARGO (KFGO-AM) Technical issues have delayed the launch of a bike rental program in Fargo. The student driven initiative was supposed to launch this fall but that's not happening.
Tom Smith of Great Northern Cycles of Fargo manages the the Great Rdies Bike Share project. He says problems have been fixed but that put the launch six weeks behind schedule. Rather than start this November, the bike share program will kick-off next spring.
It will have 10 docking stations with 101 rental bikes, four on the main NDSU campus, one at the downtown campus near Barry Hall, with 5 others scattered throughout the downtown area. NDSU students are automatically covered with their activity fee. The cost to the general public is $8 daily, or a $75 annual fee. The bikes are equipped with GPS chips for tracking.
Smith says a demo docking station will be set up at NDSU's Memorial Union the week of October 20th.
