CROOKSTON, MINN. (KFGO-AM) --The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating an officer involved shooting in northwestern Minnesota.

A Polk County Sheriff's Deputy who was shot in his bullet-resistant vest during the incident was not injured.

Michael Perry, 23, of rural Crookston was arrested a short time later on a charge of first degree attempted murder.

It happened after deputies, police, and state troopers responded to a 911 call reporting shots fired in a home just south of Crookston around 1 p.m. Thursday. As deputies talked to family members outside, they say Perry began firing at them from inside the home, hitting the deputy in the back of his vest. Officers returned fire and Perry was wounded.

Perry was treated for injuries at the Crookston hospital before he was taken to jail.
