Bismarck, N.D. (AP) North Dakota Insurance Commissioner Adam Hamm has been appointed to a national board of financial regulators. Hamm will serve a two-year term on the financial stability oversight council representing the interests of all the nation's state insurance regulators on the board. The National Association of Insurance Commissioners appointed Hamm to his new role. The council was created by the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Protection and Consumer Protection Act in 2010. It monitors the nation's financial system, identifies risks to the system and coordinates a response to any threats. Members of the council include U.S. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew who chairs the Council and Federal Reserve Board Chair Janet Yellen.
