FARGO (KFGO-AM) Fargo City Commissioner Dave Piepkorn is upset about delays in completing reconstruction of 19th Avenue North.
An estimated 20,000 vehicles normally use the route but the work has caused major traffic disruptions and caused 40% losses for many small businesses along the cooridor.
Piepkorn suggested the contractor be held responsible. April Walker of the City Engineers office says the blame for the slow progress is not entirely the contractors fault. Walker says the company has asked for an extension.
Walker says the stretch of 19th Avenue between University Drive and 10th Street will completed September 26. Work on a stretch west of University Drive will continue. The project was supposed to have been wrapped up last week.
