Bismarck, N.D. (AP) The North Dakota Attorney General's office says the Mott-Regent school board violated the state's open meetings laws by using email to solicit comments and opinions on board business. Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem said in a ruling issued Tuesday that the board broke the law in emails where its members shared "thoughts, opinions, positions and reports on committee meetings.'' Stenehjem says any information that goes beyond official matters is equivalent to having a meeting that requires notice. The Attorney General says copes of email exchanges by the board since February 2014 must be saved and provided, free of charge, to anyone requesting them.
