BISMARCK (KFGO-AM) -- The state health department says a woman over the age of 60 is this year's first west nile virus-related death in North Dakota.
So far this year, 12 human cases of the virus have been reported. Health officials say it's a reminder of how serious the disease is especially for people older than 50.
When outdoors, you're advised to use insect repellant and wear long pants and long-sleeved shirts.
