FARGO (KFGO-AM) -- Fargo Mayor Dennis Walaker will not be returning to city hall as soon as expected.
Walaker has revealed that he developed an adverse reaction to medication he was prescribed as part of his treatment for kidney cancer and was hospitalized and is now in a facility in Fargo that he says should help speed his recovery. He says he's improving every day.
Just over a week ago, the city released a statement confirming that Walaker was undergoing treatment for renal cell carcinoma and would be back at work within a week to 10 days.
Walaker says he began feeling sick in July while in Vermont for a family wedding. He says he originally blamed recent weight loss on a sinus infection and a dental procedure.
