FARGO (KFGO-AM) -- A suspended West Fargo High school teacher remains free after making his first court appearance on felony charges of having sex with a female student.
Aaron Knodel is accused of having sex with the student in a classroom, a car and at his home about five years ago. She was 17 at the time. Knodel is charged with five felonies.
He's expected to enter a plea to the charges next month. Knodel is the current North Dakota Teacher of the Year.
The investigation began with West Fargo Police several months ago. It was eventually sent to the State Crime Bureau. The Attorney General's office is handling the prosecution.
