BISMARCK (AP) - Police records show North Dakota Tax Commissioner Ryan Rauschenberger was involved in an accident this week.
The Republican announced Wednesday he has received addiction treatment.
He also says he loaned his vehicle Tuesday to someone he met in treatment and the vehicle was involved in an accident. The driver, 22-year-old Jesse Larson, was cited for drunken driving and reckless driving.
Rauschenberger was not in the vehicle at the time, but Bismarck Police report that hours earlier, he was cited for failure to exercise care required, which has a $30 fine.
The police report says he collided with a vehicle stopped in traffic, which caused it to strike a third vehicle. No one was injured.
