Bismarck, N.D. (AP) -- A former Bismarck middle school teacher who admitted she had sex with a ninth-grader will spend 60 days in prison. South Central District Court Judge Bruce Romanick has ruled that 35-year-old Susan Duursma won't have to register as a sex offender. Duursma was charged in September with three counts of felony corruption or solicitation of a minor. Authorities say she had sexual contact with the then-15-year-old male student from March 2013 to July 2013. She pleaded guilty in May to one count of abuse of a child. Duursma received a six-year suspended prison sentence and five years of supervised release. Duursma was a physical education teacher at Wachter Middle School. She resigned in February after school district officials suspended her without pay in November.
