FARGO (KFGO-AM) -- A row of more than 20 cars sits in wait for the grand opening of Sonic in Fargo Saturday morning at 6am. The reason? The first 13 in line win a year of free Sonic and the oppurtunity was too good to pass up. Dave Matthisen of Moorhead, Rich Kremer of Fargo, Michelle Haarsager of West Fargo and Gina Deibel of West Fargo were near the front of the line Friday evening.
"For the fun of it. There was nothing better to do on a Friday night and I work across the street so I figured that's free lunch each week for a year" says Mathisen. He arrived at 8:30 Friday morning to secure his spot in line. So after all of that waiting what is the first thing he's going to order? Tator tots!
Mathisen isn't the only one waiting and wasn't even the first. Matt Gaztzke of Fargo and Chris Smith of Detroit Lakes were waiting in a tent that has been first in line since 9pm Thursday night. Smith and Gaztzke are holding a spot for their friends who were charging their phones when KFGO arrived Friday night.
On Smith and Gaztzke's first order list? Food. Slushie's. Milkshake. All of it.
Sonic opens for the first time in Fargo at 6am Saturday morning.
