FARGO (KFGO-AM) -- A transportation pact is signed between North Dakota and Vancouver, Washington to expand and expedite rail traffic.

North Dakota Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring and Port of Vancouver CEO Todd Coleman signed a new agreement to improve rail traffic from the state to Vancouver's Port.

The dedicated rail service is expected to increase capacity and reliability for farmers needing to move their products to market by rail.

Goehring says, "One of our largest economic driver in North Dakota is agriculture. It already supports about 25 percent of the jobs in North Dakota. This is vital; this is important."

The new rail service intends to start moving full boxcars in the following weeks.
