GRAND FORKS (KFGO-AM) - Striking workers at the J.R. Simplot plant in Grand Forks have rejected the latest contract offer from the company. The two sides met to try and resolve differences that prompted some 200 workers to walk off the job August 4th.
Simplot spokesman Doug Cole says the company is "disappointed" that Teamsters Local 120 rejected the contract. He says the company offered "constructive dialogue" to get everyone back to work. Cole says Simplot remains optimistic that a resolution can be found but will proceed with plant operations to satisfy customer demands.
The main stumbling blocks include health premium costs…pension plan changes…and lengthening work shifts.
