BISMARCK (AP) - State employees in North Dakota have one of the richest health insurance plans in the nation.

A report released Tuesday from the Pew Charitable Trusts found that North Dakota state employees get 93 percent of their health care costs covered by insurance. The national average is 92 percent.

That's much higher than workers in the private sector or those choosing health plans under the federal overhaul.

The report also found that North Dakota is the only state in the nation that does not require premium contributions for single employees or those with dependents.

North Dakota United President Nick Archuleta says the state's generous health care plan is one of the few perks that help attract and retain quality public employee workers in the oil-boom state.
