WEST ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Thousands of people, including many law officers from the Fargo-Moorhead area, have gathered in and outside a West St. Paul church to say good-bye to Mendota Heights Police Officer Scott Patrick, killed in the line of duty a week ago.
Patrick's brothers in law enforcement struggled to remain composed as they shared stories of their comradery at the Mendota Heights Police Department. They told of how Patrick's dream was his service to the community and his strength was his family, his wife and two daughters.
Patrick's half-brother, Mike Brue, told mourners that Scott knew the risks involved with his job and never had regrets. Brue says Scott realized plenty of dreams he had for himself and his girls and lived by President Theordore Roosevelt's famous saying ''Do what you can with what you have where you are.''
