Fargo City Commission approves Edgewood Estates development

FARGO (KFGO-AM) -- Fargo's City Commission has voted unanimously to approve an 89 acre housing project on the former Cardinal Muench seminary grounds.

Edgewood Estates will add about 60 single-family homes to the north Fargo neighborhood. Residents again spoke out against the project because of traffic concerns and a lack of transparency from the city to keep the neighborhood informed of the project. City engineers say the traffic increase would have a negligible impact, and city leaders acknowledged dropping the ball.

Citizens attempted to compromise in the form of waiting another month to approve the plan or cut the number of houses to 30, but neither proposal gained any traction.

Developers say they plan to demolish and do some underground work on the property during this building season and start paving next year.
