WEST ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Police say an officer from Minnesota who was shot after making a traffic stop died of his wounds.
The slain Mendota Heights officer was identified as 47-year-old Scott Patrick.
Patrick was shot about 12:20 p.m. Wednesday after pulling over a car in West St. Paul. Witnesses reported hearing three gunshots.
A massive manhunt followed the shooting. Police said they are still seeking a suspect, whom they identified as 39-year-old Brian Fitch Sr., of South St. Paul or West St. Paul.
Patrick leaves behind a wife and two teenage children. Chief Mike Aschenbrenner says he had been on the force since 1995.
