FARGO (KFGO-AM) - For the past 14 months, Paul Wylie has been paying out-of-pocket expenses for programs for hundreds of low income tenants at the Fargo High Rise. So far, he's spent $7,000 paying for a weekly hot dog and movie event, a monthly dinner and a food pantry, all of which he organized. But he said the programs have grown to the point he can no longer afford it without outside funding.

Wylie organized the events after moving into the 22-story apartment building, run by the Fargo Housing and Redevelopment Authority. Wylie said he "saw nothing but misery, sadness and hunger." By the end of the month, he said many people were going hungry.

Wylie is seeking donations to cover the cost of obtaining tax exempt status to apply for grants to continue the programs and in the short term, funds to help cover the cost of the food and the supplies needed to serve the residents.

Wylie can be contacted at "paulwylie@gmail.com" or at (701) 566-5235.
