MOORHEAD, Minn. (KFGO-AM) - Moorhead’s police chief is asking residents not to make assumptions about about a proposed transitional housing complex in north Moorhead.
Churches United for the Homeless wants to build the facility on 34th Street, a few blocks north of Highway 10.
Some nearby residents claim the apartments could lead to more neighborhood crime. But Ebinger says there's nothing to prove that could happen.
The chief says it's not accurate to portray transitional residents as potential criminals. He says they are people in need of police services who are very often vulnerable, or victimized.
Ebinger says the police department will provide those services in an "equitable and respectful way."
