WADENA, MINN. (KFGO-AM) - Finally, some good news for Wadena, Minnesota. The city has been fighting back record overland flooding. It started over the weekend after torrential rain fell on top of already super-saturated soils.

Police Chief Naomi Plautz says the water is slowly starting to recede at an earthen dike built on top of a road that protects wadena's southwest side. The water has gone done about a foot.

Plautz says pumps continue to remove water from low spots in town and water continues to seep into basements. She say preliminary reports indicate more than 100 homes have had flooded basements. A full damage assessment won't be made until sometime next week.
