FERGUS FALLS, Minn. (AP) - A former Fergus Falls man has pleaded not guilty to charges he killed his nephew over a drug debt.
A court document says 65-year-old Michael Alan Burris intends to argue self-defense and that he was intoxicated.
Attorneys for Burris have filed a motion to suppress some items obtained with a search warrant.
Burris is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Scott Burris.
Scott Burris was reported missing in May of 2012. His body was found several weeks later. He had been shot in the head.
Michael Burris' son, Michael Kyle Burris, is accused of helping his father dispose of the body and has pleaded not guilty. The two men moved to Arizona last year.
The father's trial is expected to start in September.
