FARGO (KFGO-AM) - Fargo City Commissioners have approved a cost of living salary adjustment for city employees.
Two years ago, Fargo changed the process for COLA's after the national economic downturn. It now waits until mid-year to determine if wage increases are possible, based on city revenues.
Finance Director Kent Costin says the local economy is "booming" and that's reflected in city coffers. He says the city can be "reasonably comfortable" with a 2% increase.
Mayor Dennis Walaker calls the decision "prudent." The cost of living adjustment is effective July 1st.
