FARGO (KFGO-AM) -- The former long-time chairman of the White Earth Indian Reservation in northwestern Minnesota is dead.
Darrell "Chip" Wadena died in a Fargo hospital after a lengthy illness. Wadena ran the reservation for 20 years and helped start "Shooting Star" Casino in Mahnomen.
He later served nearly two years in federal prison after he was convicted of rigging bids for work on the casino. Wadena was 75.
