FARGO (KFGO-AM) -- A contractor is to blame for a power outage in north Fargo Monday night.
Xcel Energy's Mark Nisbet tells KFGO News, crews digging a hole for temporary traffic lights in the construction zone at 19th Ave. and University Drive struck a major underground line, causing the outage that left more than a thousand customers in the dark for 4 hours.
The blackout also hit Newman Outdoor Stadium, leaving the the F-M Redhawks and their fans without electricity. The game started on time, but without a scoreboard, a public address system.
Xcel crews were able to restore power to that area within a couple of hours.
It's the third major outage in north Fargo in as many days.
