FARGO (KFGO-AM) - The North Dakota Attorney General's office isn't commenting on several questions Fargo police have raised regarding a police chase that began in Moorhead. A drug suspect was being chased by Moorhead police and the ND Bureau of Criminal Investigation. The man was later arrested at West Acres after a brief lockdown.
Fargo police Lt. Joel Vettel says the BCI made it difficult to obtain information. “We had limited information relative to the event” Vettel said. “It didn’t allow us to communicate with our partner, West Acres, because we lacked the information ourselves.”
There are also concerns because armed, plainclothes BCI agents entered the mall. “We had citizens who were unaware of what was going on”, according to Vettel. “It can be alarming and shocking when all of a sudden you are confronted with someone who has a weapon and that person is not easily identified as a law enforcement officer.” Vettel says that could have easily led to more fear and confusion.
Vettel says Fargo Police Chief Keith Ternes has been speaking with BCI officials about his concerns.
