Chris Klieman will be the next head coach of the North Dakota State football team.

Klieman, 46, will replace Craig Bohl, who confirmed one week ago he was leaving NDSU after 11 years to become head coach at the University of Wyoming.

Tthe Bison will be getting a defensive-minded coach who's helped the team become the best defensive team in FCS.

Klieman was named the 2012 FootballScoop FCS Coordinator of the Year after the Bison won their second straight national title. NDSU allowed the fewest points per game in the nation (11.53 ppg) and the fewest yards per game (234.47 total yards). The Bison also led the country in fewest first downs allowed (12.67 per game).

Klieman joined NDSU's staff in March 2011 as defensive backs coach and has worked with All-American cornerback Marcus Williams the last three seasons.

Before coming to NDSU, Klieman was at Northern Iowa for nine seasons. Klieman was defensive coordinator, co-defensive coordinator and secondary coach under head coaches Terry Allen and Mark Farley.

Klieman played defensive back at Northern Iowa from 1986-1990.
